Mercedes-Benz Is Nominated For Car Of The Year

September 27, 2010 – Signal Hill, Calif. – Mercedes-Benz of Long Beach confirms, General Motors nominated Mercedes-Benz R-Class model among a list of 14 cars being considered for the 2011 North American Car of the Year title.

The award is unique in the United States because instead of being given by a single media outlet -- they are awarded by automotive journalists from the United States and Canada who represent magazines, television, radio, newspapers and web sites.

"It's an honor that Mercedes-Benz has been nominated," said General Sales Manger of Mercedes-Benz of Long Beach, Ray Burke. "The Mercedes-Benz R-Class offers drivers a safe, luxury vehicle with a lot of power and efficiency. I hope it wins this great honor," he said.

This is the 18th year of the awards, which are funded exclusively by the jurors. Mercedes-Benz was previously nominated as 2010 North American Car Of The Year for the E-Class, however the Mercedes-Benz R-Class model was selected for the 2011 running.
